Solar Systems for Sindh: 200 Units of Free Electricity Coming This September!

In a significant development for residents of Sindh, Karachi’s Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has shared exciting news about the upcoming provision of solar systems for homes.

During a conversation with the media, Minister Shah emphasized that any initiative providing relief to the public should be welcomed without criticism.

Mr Shah: Solar systems distribution to Sindh will start from September

Mr Shah acknowledged that the Sindh Chief Minister’s recent comments were harsh, but clarified that they were not intended to offend. Similarly, he found the remarks from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to be inappropriate.

Minister Shah highlighted the ongoing challenges related to electricity tariffs, which are a burden on the public. He noted that key leaders, including President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, are deeply concerned about this issue.

A collective effort has been made to develop a plan aimed at reducing electricity rates, with significant contributions from Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

Minister Shah elaborated that a joint contribution of 72 billion rupees from all four provinces could lead to a reduction of 5 rupees in the basic electricity tariff. He stressed that both the federal government and its allies are committed to providing relief to the public.

In a forward-looking statement, Minister Shah revealed that discussions have been held about potentially lowering the basic tariff by 5 rupees for up to 500 units, in collaboration with federal and provincial governments.
