Pakistan Railways Increases Ticket Prices For Passengers

Despite recent reductions in petroleum prices, Pakistan Railways fare increases up to 50%. This fare hike affects passengers across different classes, especially those traveling in economy class, adding to the financial burden of many citizens.

Pakistan Railways Fare Increase for Economy Class

The most significant increase has been for economy class passengers, where ticket prices have surged between 10% to 50%. This comes just days after the Pakistan railway authorities had announced a 10% fare reduction for various classes, including Business class, AC sleeper, standard, and economy class. However, the new hike reverses those reductions and pushes fares higher than before, making travel more expensive for the average citizen.

The fare revision impacts several major routes, including trains from Karachi to Hyderabad, Tando Adam, and Kotri.

Additionally, fares for the Lahore to Sialkot, Narowal, Narang Mandi and Badomali routes have also been revised for economy class passengers. Similarly, travelers on the Faisalabad to Pindi route will experience increased ticket prices. Passengers traveling shorter distances of up to 250 km will now face fare hikes ranging from 10% to 20%.

This fare adjustment has drawn criticism from passengers, who were expecting relief following the drop in fuel prices.
