The Sultanate of Oman has set in an online system to enable employers in managing expatriate worker details including wages update. Employers can now check or amend details of workers through the Social Protection Fund (SPF) e-portal. This step was taken in line with the government’s effort on the drive towards digital transformations and enhanced services.

Key Dates for Employers
Under the eportal information, SPF will send out monthly contribution invoices. The next invoice will be present on 31/08/2024 and payment should be made on or before 15/09/2024.
The online portal accessible at www.spf.gov.om will let employers update data and wages of workers. SPF established this system with a view of enhancing easy working relationships between the employers and the Fund.
Responsibilities of Employers
Employers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new online portal to manage their functions effectively. Thus, they should ensure they get it right with all the information inputted to the system majoring on the Omani or the expatriate workers.
Any change of wages should be effected through the e portal and other legitimate means. Furthermore, employers need to frequently visit the portal in order to keep abreast with any new information or notice that may be posted.
Wage Updates and Data Management
Employers in the private sector and some government units need to update wages on the SPF portal. Meanwhile, government units using Mawred and Rio will update wages in those systems.
Employment contracts for both Omani and expatriate workers will be automatically managed through a connection between systems like Mawred, Rio, and the Ministry of Labour’s system. This makes the process smoother for everyone involved.
Since the monthly contribution bill is based on the data and wages entered in the portal, employers should regularly check and update worker information to prevent any errors.
Due to this, employers must be in a position to rectify any error in the worker’s data without delay. If private sector workers are not reflected on the SPF portal, then the employer should engage the Ministry of Labour to rectify the same.
Employers need to quickly fix any mistakes in worker data. If private sector workers don’t appear on the SPF portal, employers should work with the Ministry of Labour to correct the registration.
