2024 Toll Hike: M2 Motorway Rates Soar by Up to Rs 600– A Costly Blow to Travelers

The National Highways Authority has raised toll taxes for vehicles on Pakistani national highways and motorways. Toll taxes for the vehicles have been increased by Rs 600. This means it is now expensive to transit on these roads.

Toll Increases for Larger Vehicles

Cars traveling between Lahore and Islamabad on the M2 Motorway are charged a tune of Rs1100 but this has now been raised to Rs1210. For more specific categories, commercial vehicles including vans, coasters, buses, trucks and trailers have even registered much bigger percentages than cars.

M2 Motorway-Toll Tax increased

Heavy commercial vehicles including trucks and buses have also witnessed a higher rate of toll taxes. For instance, the toll fee for a van was increased to two thousand thirty rupees (Rs 2030) while the toll fee for a coaster was raised from two thousand two hundred and forty rupees (Rs 2240) to two thousand eight hundred and forty rupees (Rs 2840).

Tolls of cars have equally gone up and this has applied to all types of cars including buses, trucks, and trailers. Buses now have to pay Rs 4060, while all kinds of trucks and trailers Rs 5280 and Rs 6780 respectively.

The Motorway Authority added that it has reviewed these new toll rates for all the entry and exit points to the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway. This has been as a result of the yearly adjustment by 10% which is provided in the agreement.

There are some reports from the travelers concerning the increase in the toll saying that the increase in the toll has made traveling costly especially at this time of inflation and cost of living.
