Govt Announces Public Holiday for Eid Milad-ul-Nabi on Sept 17

The federal government has declared a public holiday across Pakistan on September 17, 2024, in celebration of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH). This announcement confirms that 12th Rabi’ul-Awwal, marking the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will be a national holiday.

Public Holiday for Eid Milad-ul-Nabi

According to the official circular, all schools, colleges, government offices, semi-government offices, and private businesses will be closed on this day. The holiday recognizes 12th Rabi ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth.

Eid Milad-ul-Nabi Celebrations

Earlier, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal 1446 Hijri was not sighted, meaning the Islamic month will begin on September 6. This timing leads to the celebration of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi on September 17, 2024.

Celebrations Across the Country

Eid Milad-ul-Nabi is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout Pakistan. Streets across major cities are decorated, and various processions take place. Participants wave flags and chant slogans in honor of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), showcasing their devotion and joy.
