The first trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King,” the prequel to the 2019 hit “The Lion King,” has just been released. The teaser trailer gave fans a sneak peek into the origins of the iconic lion king.
The film, set to be released on December 20, 2024, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, explores the early life of Mufasa, the king of lions. The trailer, running one minute and thirty-two seconds, introduces Mufasa, brought to life by Aaron Pierre, alongside his sibling Scar, portrayed by Kelvin Harrison Jr.

The trailer shows the duo navigating the African Pride Lands. Notably, Beyoncé reprises her role as Nala, and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter voices the daughter of King Simba. Donald Glover returns as Simba, while Barry Jenkins directs the film, with a script penned by Jeff Nathanson, known for “Catch Me If You Can.”
Story Plot of Mufasa: The Lion King
The storyline follows Simba, now the king of the Pride Lands, as he strives to guide his cub to follow in his paw prints while exploring the origins of his late father, Mufasa. The film also sees the return of fan-favorite characters Timon and Pumbaa, voiced by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen, respectively.
Other prominent voiceover talents include Thandiwe Newton, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, Mads Mikkelsen, Tiffany Boone, and John Kani, who narrates the story as Rafiki.
In an intriguing twist, the movie unfolds through flashbacks, introducing Mufasa as an orphaned cub who meets Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. This important meeting starts a grand journey filled with challenges and self-discovery.

Bollywood and South Indian Stars Join the Cast
Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan will voice characters in the Hindi version of “The Lion King,” making the film more popular worldwide.
Shah Rukh Khan will lend his voice to Mufasa, while Aryan Khan voices Simba. Additionally, South Indian star Mahesh Babu has joined the project, voicing Mufasa in the Telugu dubbed version.
